Yes, definitely! Glowworms are stunning. In 2005 we were delighted to host two separate BBC film crews at Spellbound, one lead by Sir David Attenborough and the other by Huw Cordey. Both travelled to the Waitomo Caves in New Zealand to record glowworm footage for their natural history documentaries. They were impressed and amazed by glowworms, one cameraman described the Spellbound Glowworm Cave as one of the top 10 natural spectacles he'd seen.

How long should we visit Waitomo for?

Waitomo is a thriving small village with lots of activities and tours on offer. There are some wonderful free walks and drives in the area and a lot of accomodation choices. Waitomo is very scenic with numerous limstone caves, bluffs and gorges and fabulous glowworms. Waitomo is a totally unique part of New Zealand, a stay for longer than a couple of hours is highly recommended!
